Mansion Mayhem v. 4.1: The Scary Spring Update

Welcome back, Survivors! This MM update was originally going to be a small hotfix, but then it spiraled out into a brand-new content update for the game. It features the new MM Fear system, a fresh set of balances/reworks for the 4 main Killer weapons, & the usual Powers balance changes.

Brand New Content

MM Fear System

  • The new MM Fear system is designed to elevate the gameplay to give more advantages to both parties. There’s no telling how “scared” you might be, but you may be able to feel the effects of fear the longer you stay in the Mansion or if you encounter the Killer. Scared Survivors move faster in Killer chases but move slower when not engaged. You can calm yourself down by being close to other Survivors or not moving.
    • Killers cannot become “scared” like Survivors can, so there are no big gameplay changes to them.
    • Killers are able to hear how scared a Survivor might be. It is directional sound, so make sure you use stereo sound when playing.

Balance Changes

Killer Weapons

  • First of all, all Killer weapons have fresh new UI descriptions that tell you exactly how they work. Now you actually know what you’re using when you select that weapon.
  • Killer Knife
    • New ability!
      • Right click to do an extra sweep attack!
        • The attack does 6 damage to survivors within 4 blocks of you. Only works on Survivors in line-of-sight.
        • 8s cooldown
  • Killer Crossbolt
    • The Crossbolt seemed to be way too powerful, so we’re bringing it more in line with the other weapons. It does a little bit extra damage all around, but its reload time was increased by 0.5s. We also added a new ability for the xbolt to give it some more consistency.
      • Base damage 7 -> 8
      • Reload time 0.5s -> 1s
        • New Ability!
          • Rapid Shot
            • Shoots 20 bolts in 2 seconds. Each shot does 2 damage. Rapid shots lower immunity frames significantly, so you can easily shred someone’s life away if you shoot them at point-blank range.
            • 16s cooldown.
  • Killer Scythe
    • The Scythe was a bit underpowered, so it’s getting some buffs. We felt like the speed bonus you got from using this weapon didn’t justify the low damage output. You move a tiny bit faster now (it’s noticeable, trust us) & the damage output formula has been completely revamped.
      • Speed bonus 3% -> 5%
      • No longer gives wither to Survivors.
      • Now does more damage to healthy Survivors. The less health a Survivor has, the less damage you do. Crits do no extra damage.
        • New Ability!
          • Right-click to reel in Survivors. Only works on Survivors within 10 blocks of you.
          • 8s cooldown.
  • Killer Axe
    • The axe, similar to the scythe, felt like a complete downgrade to the sword. You moved slower & couldn’t really dish out slowing crits. We added a new & engaging ability to hopefully give this weapon some more utility. We also tweaked some of the stats around.
      • Permanent slowness 7% -> 9%
      • Critical hits slow by 20% -> 15%
        • New Ability!
          • Right-click to do a leap!
          • 8s cooldown between each use.

Powers Balance Changes

Survivor Powers

  • Survivor Boost
    • Cooldown 50s -> 30s
  • Killer Disarm
    • Killers now lose food items on Power use instead of end.
    • 8s -> 12s
  • Super Powers
    • Cooldown reduction: -15s -> -18s
    • Power amplifier: +25% -> +35%
    • Cooldown: 60s -> 40s
    • Uses 2 -> 3

Killer Powers

  • Killer Boost
    • Cooldown 50s -> 30s
  • Super Powers
    • Cooldown reduction: -15s -> -18s
    • Power amplifier: +25% -> +35%
    • Cooldown: 60s -> 40s
    • Uses 2 -> 4

The Future

  • Since this update didn’t come with a new map, we’re planning on adding brand-new smaller (not huge) maps using the new blocks from updates past 1.12.2. We also are looking to add new weapons to the Killer’s arsenal.
    • Killer Pitchfork
      • Melee weapon that has a ranged attack. Attacks will have lots of fire.
    • Killer Mace
      • Melee weapon that functions very similar to the vanilla Minecraft mace but with some cool new features.
    • Killer Spellbook
      • Weak ranged/melee weapon that allows you to cast various spells & curses on Survivors/Killers.
    • Killer Shotgun
      • Extremely strong ranged weapon with short range. Shooting Survivors at point-blank range does way more damage than if you were to shoot them from afar. You have to reload & have infinite ammo.
